Optician Job Description

We are a growing optical practice looking for an individual that has a passion for eyewear and wants to take to the next level.  We design and create custom eyewear in-house for our clients and assist our guests as they create colorful self-designed palettes that we then turn into eyewear. Each staff member is encouraged and supported to create new designs and color patterns that can become part of the ready-to-wear collection.

Optician Duties include:

  •   Consulting with clients in their eyewear needs, including frame selection, prescription interpretation, and suggesting lens designs and treatments.

  • Facilitating in the creation of custom/bespoke eyewear solutions.

  • Assisting fellow staff members in the creation and finishing of frames and lenses. Operating CAD and CAM systems and the safe operation of CNC milling equipment, as well as other associated tools required in the making of eyewear.

  • Assisting in training of professional clients at regularly schedules workshops.

  • Basic office duties including but not limited to, greeting clients in person, via phone or video conference. Scheduling of clients for eye exams. Assisting optometrists on staff as needed. Filing of insurance claims. Maintaining a clean and attractive work environment.

Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience.
