These terms cover your relationship with Corner Optical — both as a patient and when you use our website or booking tools. If you don't agree with them, please don't use our services or our site.
We've written them in plain language. Where something is required by law, we say so. If anything's unclear, call us.

Services we provide
Corner Optical is an independent retail optical and optometry practice. We offer comprehensive eye examinations, contact lens fittings, prescription eyewear (including custom-built frames through our Optical Kitchen), and ongoing eye care.
Eye exams are performed by a licensed optometrist. We're an Illinois-licensed health-care provider.
Appointments
Booking. When you submit an appointment request through our booking page, your slot is held for up to 72 hours while we reach out to confirm. If we can't reach you in that window, the slot may be released to another patient.
Confirming. Appointments aren't fully confirmed until we've contacted you and you've acknowledged the date, time, and provider — typically by replying to a text, clicking a confirmation link, or speaking with our staff.
Cancellation and rescheduling. Please give us at least 24 hours' notice if you need to change or cancel. Call (847) 998-4737 or reply to your reminder text. Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may affect our ability to schedule future visits with you.
No-show fees. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee for missed appointments. We won't charge for a first miss in good faith, but please respect our staff's time — when you don't show, another patient could have used that slot.
Payment
Charges. You're responsible for paying for services and products we provide, including copays, deductibles, and any portion of your bill not covered by insurance.
Insurance. We bill many vision and medical insurance plans. We'll do our best to verify your coverage and explain what's covered before treatment, but final coverage determinations are made by your insurer. You're responsible for any balance your insurance doesn't cover.
Payment methods. We accept cash, check, major credit cards, FSA/HSA cards, and gift certificates. Some payment processors are third parties who handle card data on our behalf.
Overdue balances. Unpaid balances may be sent to a collections agency after reasonable notice. You'll be responsible for any collection costs allowed by law.
Eyewear and contact lens orders
Custom and bespoke eyewear. Custom builds through our Optical Kitchen — and full bespoke frames made by Corner Optical — are one-of-one items made specifically for you. Once production starts, these orders aren't returnable. We'll confirm your selections in writing before we begin.
Standard eyewear. Frames and lenses from our curated collection follow the same rules as any prescription product: we'll work with you on fit and adaptation, and remake the lenses if there's a prescription issue identified within the manufacturer's adaptation window. Frame returns are case-by-case.
Contact lenses. Trials are non-refundable once opened. Annual supply returns are dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Any contact lens order, once opened are not returnable.
Warranty. Most frames carry a manufacturer warranty against defects, usually one year. Normal wear and accidental damage aren't covered. Ask us about specific brand warranties at the time of purchase.
Prescription release
We release a copy of your eyeglass prescription at the conclusion of your exam, as required by Illinois law. We release your contact lens prescription as required by the federal Fairness to Contact Lens Consumers Act once your fitting is complete and verified. You're free to fill your prescription wherever you choose.
Medical disclaimer
Information on our website and in our communications is for general educational purposes. It isn't a substitute for an exam or a specific medical recommendation from your provider. If you're experiencing a vision emergency — sudden vision loss, severe eye pain, flashes or floaters, eye injury — call us, go to an emergency room, or call 911.
Website use
You agree to use our website and booking system honestly and for their intended purposes. Don't try to interfere with the site, scrape it for commercial use, or submit false information through our forms. We may suspend access for misuse.
Communications
When you give us your email or phone number, you're agreeing to let us contact you about your eye care. The details of how we use those — and how you opt out — are in our Privacy Policy. The short version: appointment-related messages are part of your care; you can reply STOP to text messages or unsubscribe from non-urgent email at any time.
Intellectual property
The content on our website (photos, copy, our logo, the Optical Kitchen name and process) is owned by Corner Optical. You're welcome to read it. Please don't republish or use it commercially without permission.
Limitation of liability
We aim to provide excellent care and accurate information. To the extent allowed by law, our liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of our website is limited to the amount you paid us for the related service in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for the professional standard of care we owe you as a health-care provider — that's governed by Illinois law and our professional licenses.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The effective date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be posted on our website. Continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois. Any dispute that can't be resolved by a conversation should be filed in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.
